01-04-2007 - Gamespy is experiencing some datacenter issues, this causes BF2 ranked and BF2142 ranked servers to crash randomly.
Gamespy/IGN is aware of the problem and it will be fixed as soon as possible.
Update Monday 18:00:
Gamespy lost half of their BGP routing to Europe on their routers, this means most European Battlefield Ranked gameservers can not connect to the masterservers and cannot start.
This issue is known and routing engineers are working on it in the States.
Update Monday 23:30:
Masterserver is reachable again.
If your gameserver is still offline, please restart the server through the controlpanel.
Update Tuesday 16:00
Official EA feedback:
Connection Problems with Battlefield and other Titles
We wanted to update our players on the current status with the issue that is preventing soldier selection in Battlefield. Due to an ISP service outage the soldier databases are not accessible to players who are logging in. The problems with service are not limited to only Battlefield and are causing similar login issues with other titles that utilize IGN/Gamespy online services. Because this issue is not intrinsically linked to the systems used to operate Battlefield or any of the other affected games but rather the communication between players and those systems we are uncertain of when the ISP outage will be corrected. EA DICE and Gamespy are working hard to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and sincerely appreciate your patience during this outage.
Update Tuesday 17:00:
The connectivity seems to be restored, a large amount of players is connecting to i3D.net gameservers each minute. Multiple reports from various ISPs come in reporting connectivity has been restored.
i3D.net welcomes your feedback on the i3D.net forums

Those of you experiencing problems when trying to play Battlefield 2, 1942 and 2142 online will be pleased to know that EA is aware of the problem, and normal service should resume around midday.
"It was an unforeseen technical hitch, and we're still working on it at the moment. We hope it will be up by midday today," a spokesperson for EA told Eurogamer this morning. "Obviously and unfortunately these things do happen, and we apologise to all of the consumers let down by this."
AdvertisementThere was no word on what the problem actually boiled down to, but rumours continue to fly around that some disgruntled virtual war-loons may have carried out a covert DDOS attack on the servers.
According to the EA Games forums, the technical hiccups started sometime on Sunday, and have carried through until today. And while there's a mob of angry customers calling for an immediate solution, it seems the biggest gripe is that EA hasn't kept the community informed, leaving its loyal fan base in the dark.
Still, a fix is just around the corner. So it's back to your war games this afternoon. |
